After sending out a few dozen advanced copies of A Pixie Day, I’ve received many comments about how wonderful and insightful A Pixie Day is for children. However, the big surprise comes from adults and business leaders who love the book as an example of determination and goal setting.
Georgiana wakes up one morning feeling quite different. She’s convinced that this is her “pixie day.” But the day doesn’t go as planned. She achieves some wonderful things, but she doesn’t recognize her achievements at the time. Her day is full of “ups” and “downs.” She comes home disappointed and a little disheartened. But the mother, a good parent and life coach, points Georgie in the direction of her accomplishments. The rest is “herstory.”
Isn’t this the same for us as parents, teachers, companions, life coaches or business leaders? We set out to do something and often feel like we didn’t achieve our goal, or fulfill our dream. But in fact, we may have done more than we expected. We simply need to go out and do what we feel inspired to do. Or, we simply need to encourage others as they keep on their journey.
Dreams are worth having and worth pursuing. We advance our own lives when we dream and do.
